“Experience Art.  Experience Elk Rapids. EXPERIENCE ART RAPIDS!

An art showcase of creativity on the Bay.

Art Rapids! was founded in 2006 by arts-minded residents to organize a juried art fair

Volunteer organization and board is now adding to their decade of accomplishments with the introduction of “Experience Art Rapids!”

Similar in some respects to the nationally-renowned ArtPrize, an annual juried show in Grand Rapids, MI

Exploring and showcasing over 250 works of art to be displayed throughout the picture-perfect Great Lakes shoreline village of Elk Rapids in NW Michigan’s Antrim County.

Experience Art Rapids! runs from June 10-24, 2017

Offering juried prizes and a People’s Choice Prize totaling $6,000

Objective is to bring arts and the community together – an idea supported by artists, businesses and the village

Becky Lancaster, Art Rapids board chair: “This is not just about the arts. It’s about our community as well. We’re well aware of the diversity and quality of the talent in the Northwest Michigan cultural community.  We have always attracted new artists to our events, bringing more exposure to our residents and visitors.  Experience Art Rapids! is a deliberate mix of business and artists collaborating to showcase peoples’ talents. We all benefit.”

Artwork will be viewed at various businesses, display venues as well as the Walk of Art Park in Elk Rapids.

EAR support has been impressive and the community participation is key to its success

A mix of artists and businesses collaborating to bring people and their talents together

EAR is a new reason to stop in historic Elk Rapids. Enjoy the Bay breezes. Meet other art appreciators. Take in the charm of a picturesque village as you stroll the various display sites and view more than 250 pieces. Since 2006, Art Rapids! organization has raised arts awareness, provided higher education and scholarships to art students; given grants to teachers, schools and groups; sponsored events; organized art classes and developed the Walk of Art” outdoor sculpture exhibit that is free to the public
