IMAGINARY CREATURES FOUND IN THE FOREST

Clay Workshop July 24-26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for 5-8 year olds

In this hands-on clay workshop students will learn about animals commonly found in woodland areas like the Walk of Art Park. Using observation, investigation and visual aids they will create imaginary creatures out of clay which will be painted with underglaze, fired and returned to the students the week following the class (specific time and place to be determined).

Students will meet for 2 hours, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., each day for 3 days, Wednesday, July 24 thru Friday, July 26. Sessions will include discussion and demonstration, touring and observing the park, drawing for ideas, and building imaginary creatures out of clay.

The cost is $85 per student.

THE IMAGINARY FOREST: PAST, PRESENT, AND POSSIBLE FLORA

Clay Workshop July 23-26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m for 8-14 year olds

In this hands-on clay workshop students will learn about the history of trees and plants from pre-historical past to present species to develop new ideas for flora of the imagination. Using observation, investigation and visual aids, students will create sculptures which reflect and re-imagine the woodland environment of the park. The resulting individual student works will be given a group installation in the Walk of Art Park the following summer (2020).

Students will meet for 3 hours, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., each day for 4 days, Tuesday, July 23 thru Friday, July 26. Sessions will include discussion and demonstration, touring and observing the park, drawing for ideas, and building with clay.

The cost is $125 per student.
